BofA Travel Rewards Business Credit Card Review

BofA Travel Rewards Business Credit Card earns 1.5x points on all purchases with no annual fee and no foreign transaction fees, with Preferred Rewards boosts.

4 min read

The Bank of America Travel Rewards Business Credit Card is a no-annual-fee business card that earns 1.5x points on all purchases. Points are redeemable for a statement credit applied against travel purchases charged to the card.

Like the BofA Unlimited Cash Rewards Business Card, it benefits from the Preferred Rewards for Business program, which can lift the earn rate for businesses with qualifying Bank of America and Merrill balances.

What the product is structurally

Structurally, the Travel Rewards Business Card earns Bank of America Points rather than cash. Points are redeemable for travel — including flights, hotels, vacation packages, and cruises — at a rate of 1 cent per point when used as a statement credit against travel purchases.

The card does not include transfer partners. Points are not transferable to airline or hotel loyalty programs. This makes the reward structure fixed-value, similar in practice to cash back, but restricted to offsetting travel spending.

Employee cards are available at no charge and accumulate points into the primary account.

How it works in practice

Every eligible purchase earns 1.5x points. Points are credited after each billing cycle and do not expire while the account is open.

To redeem for travel, the cardholder makes a qualifying travel purchase and then redeems points as a statement credit against that transaction within a defined window. Eligible travel purchases include airfare, hotels, car rentals, vacation packages, cruises, and baggage fees charged by airlines.

Preferred Rewards for Business members earn a multiplied rate based on tier: 25% more at Gold, 50% more at Platinum, and 75% more at Platinum Honors. At the highest tier, the effective earn rate on all purchases reaches 2.625x points.

Fees and pricing mechanics

There is no annual fee. The card charges no foreign transaction fees, making the 1.5x earn rate apply equally to international spending.

A welcome offer for new cardholders provides a defined points bonus after meeting a spending threshold. The specific amount and threshold are disclosed at application and may change.

The variable APR applies to balances not paid in full by the due date.

Limits, eligibility, and availability

The same Preferred Rewards for Business eligibility criteria apply as with the BofA Unlimited Cash Rewards Business Card: $20,000 qualified balances for Gold, $50,000 for Platinum, and $100,000 for Platinum Honors.

Eligibility requires a U.S. business and personal credit evaluation by Bank of America. The product is available to sole proprietors through larger business entities.

The card is available only in the United States.

Tradeoffs, risks, or limitations

The 1.5x base rate is lower than the 2% offered on competing no-annual-fee business cards. Without the Preferred Rewards multiplier, the card’s earn rate is structurally less competitive on straightforward cash-equivalent value.

Points are not transferable to airline or hotel programs. Businesses seeking to use rewards for premium cabin award flights — where transferable points often deliver the highest per-point value — cannot do so with this card.

The travel redemption mechanism requires booking travel normally (at potentially higher prices through open channels) and then applying points as a credit. Businesses that prefer to book the lowest-fare options directly may find some awkwardness in the redemption workflow.

The Preferred Rewards advantage is most meaningful for businesses that already maintain substantial balances with Bank of America and Merrill. For businesses without that existing relationship, the base 1.5x earn rate underpowers the alternatives in its tier.
