The Chase Southwest Rapid Rewards® Premier Business Credit Card is a co-branded Southwest Airlines business credit card that earns Rapid Rewards points on Southwest purchases and includes perks toward the Southwest Companion Pass. It carries a $99 annual fee.
What the product is structurally
The Southwest Premier Business Card is a Visa Business credit card on a revolving credit line issued by Chase. Points deposit into the cardholder’s Southwest Rapid Rewards account.
The earn structure is: 3x points on Southwest Airlines purchases, 2x on Rapid Rewards Hotel and Car partners, and 1x on all other purchases.
The card includes 6,000 anniversary bonus points each year the account is open (awarded on the account anniversary). It also provides two EarlyBird Check-In® designations per year, which automatically reserve a boarding position up to 36 hours before the general boarding window.
How it works in practice
Southwest Rapid Rewards points can be redeemed for flights on Southwest Airlines through the Wanna Get Away, Wanna Get Away Plus, Anytime, and Business Select fare categories. The value of points varies by fare class — lower fares provide better per-point value.
The Companion Pass — which allows one designated companion to fly free on every flight (paying only taxes and fees) for the remainder of that year and the full following year — requires earning 135,000 Companion Pass qualifying points in a calendar year. Card spending earns toward this total.
An additional 9,000 Companion Pass qualifying points are awarded each account anniversary on the Premier Business Card, compressing the distance to the full Companion Pass threshold.
The welcome bonus, as of early 2026, is 60,000 Rapid Rewards points after spending $3,000 in the first three months.
Fees and pricing mechanics
The annual fee is $99. No foreign transaction fees apply.
Rapid Rewards points do not expire while the account is active. The variable APR applies to unpaid balances. Chase’s 5/24 rule applies.
Limits, eligibility, and availability
Eligibility requires a U.S. business and personal credit evaluation. Southwest Airlines’s Rapid Rewards program is primarily domestic (U.S., Caribbean, Latin America, Mexico, Bahamas); international flying on other carriers is not supported through point transfers.
Tradeoffs, risks, or limitations
Southwest Rapid Rewards points have limited utility outside the Southwest ecosystem — there are no airline or hotel transfer partners. Points are most valuable for businesses that regularly fly Southwest routes.
The 3x earn on Southwest purchases and the 9,000 anniversary points have clear value for Southwest flyers. Non-Southwest travelers accumulate points at 1x (all non-Southwest, non-partner spending), making the card structurally weak outside its core use case.
The Southwest Performance Business Card at $199 provides significantly more comprehensive benefits, including inflight Wi-Fi credits, TSA PreCheck rebates, upgraded boardings, and higher bonus points earning. The Premier Business Card is the more affordable version with a reduced feature set.
