The Citi® / AAdvantage® Business™ World Elite Mastercard® is a co-branded American Airlines business credit card issued by Citi. It earns AAdvantage miles on American Airlines purchases and key business spending categories. The annual fee is $99, waived for the first year.
What the product is structurally
Structurally, the AAdvantage Business Card is a World Elite Mastercard on a revolving credit line. Miles earned deposit into the cardholder’s AAdvantage account and combine with miles earned through flights, American’s shopping portal, and other partner activity.
The card earns 2x miles on American Airlines purchases, gas stations, telecommunications merchants, and cable and satellite providers. All other purchases earn 1x mile.
Perks include the first checked bag free for the cardholder and up to four companions on the same itinerary on American Airlines-ticketed, American-operated flights. Preferred access boarding and 25% off in-flight Wi-Fi purchases are also included.
How it works in practice
American Airlines purchases, gas stations, and telecom/cable/satellite charges earn 2x miles. The elevated rate applies to direct charges with American Airlines — booking through third-party travel sites may not qualify for the 2x tier.
The first checked bag free benefit applies when the AAdvantage Business Card is used to pay the American Airlines fare. For business travelers who check bags regularly on American flights, this provides a recurring per-trip savings.
After $30,000 in card spending within an account year, cardholders earn a $99 companion certificate valid for one domestic round-trip companion ticket. The companion pays government taxes and fees only.
The welcome bonus, as of early 2026, is 75,000 AAdvantage miles after meeting a minimum spending threshold in the first few months of account opening.
Fees and pricing mechanics
The annual fee is $99, waived in the first year. No foreign transaction fees apply.
There are no caps on the 2x bonus category earning. The companion certificate requires reaching the $30,000 spend threshold within an account year.
The variable APR applies to unpaid balances.
Limits, eligibility, and availability
Eligibility requires a U.S. business and personal credit evaluation by Citi. The application includes a personal guaranty.
The card is available to businesses flying American Airlines with significant domestic or international operations. It is less useful for businesses that predominantly fly other carriers.
Tradeoffs, risks, or limitations
AAdvantage miles are program-specific. American Airlines has historically used dynamic pricing for award redemptions, which means the number of miles required for a given flight can change without advance notice. The value of accumulated miles is not fixed.
The companion certificate requires $30,000 in annual spending, which is a high threshold for smaller businesses. Companies spending less will not earn the certificate.
The 2x earn structure covers American Airlines, gas, and telecom — but not dining, office supplies, or other common business categories. Businesses with diverse spending profiles may find greater overall return from a different card structure.
The first checked bag benefit is meaningful for frequent American Airlines flyers, but of zero value to businesses primarily using other airlines.
