Costco Anywhere Business Card by Citi Review

Costco Anywhere Visa Business Card by Citi earns 4% on gas, 3% on restaurants and travel, 2% at Costco, and 1% elsewhere with no separate annual fee.

4 min read

The Citi® / Costco Anywhere Visa® Business Card is a business credit card available exclusively to Costco Business members. It earns tiered cash back on fuel, dining, travel, and Costco purchases. Citi issues it with no separate annual card fee — the annual fee is embedded in the Costco Business membership itself.

What the product is structurally

Structurally, the Costco Anywhere Business Card is a Visa Business credit card operated by Citi. It is only available to Costco Business members and requires maintaining an active Costco Business membership.

The card earns cash back in four tiers: 4% on eligible gas and EV charging (up to $7,000 per year, then 1%), 3% on restaurants and eligible travel, 2% on Costco and Costco.com purchases, and 1% on all other eligible purchases.

Rewards are paid once per year as a Costco Shop Card (Costco gift certificate) during February, redeemable at Costco warehouses or on Costco.com. This is the only redemption format.

How it works in practice

Gas purchases at all gas stations (except superstores, supermarkets, and warehouses) earn 4% until the $7,000 annual gas spending cap is reached. After that, gas purchases earn 1% for the remainder of the year.

Restaurant and eligible travel purchases earn 3% year-round without a cap. Costco and Costco.com purchases earn 2%. All other purchases earn 1%.

The annual cash back is tallied at year-end and delivered as a Costco Shop Card. This Shop Card can be used like cash at Costco; any remaining value on the card must be used on that day, or cashback can be received for the remaining balance.

Fees and pricing mechanics

There is no separate annual card fee. However, the card requires an active Costco Business membership, which carries its own annual cost (currently $65 for a Business Gold Star membership, as of early 2026). This membership fee effectively represents the cost of card access.

No foreign transaction fees apply to purchases made outside the United States.

Limits, eligibility, and availability

The card is only available to existing Costco Business members within the United States. Applicants must have an active Costco Business membership at the time of application, held in a business name.

Approval is subject to Citi’s credit evaluation. The card is not available as a standalone product without Costco membership.

The annual cash back distribution cannot be split or taken as a direct deposit, statement credit, or check. The Shop Card format is the only redemption available.

Tradeoffs, risks, or limitations

The 4% gas rate is among the highest available for a business card with no standalone annual fee, but it is capped at $7,000 in annual gas spending. Businesses with high fuel costs — fleet operators or delivery-heavy businesses — may reach this cap mid-year.

The once-per-year reward distribution limits cash flow flexibility. Rewards earned throughout the year are not accessible until the February payout. Businesses that carry a balance or incur other expenses cannot apply rewards as they accrue.

The card is not useful to businesses without an existing Costco Business relationship. Its value depends entirely on Costco spending patterns and the overall volume of gas, restaurant, and travel purchases.

The Costco Shop Card redemption mechanism limits rewards to use within Costco’s ecosystem. Businesses that do not regularly purchase from Costco will find the reward redemption inconvenient compared to cash-equivalent alternatives.
