Capital One Spark Miles Select Card Review

Capital One Spark Miles Select earns 1.5x miles on all purchases and 5x on hotels and rentals via Capital One Travel, with no annual fee and transfer partners.

3 min read

The Capital One Spark Miles Select Card is a no-annual-fee business credit card that earns 1.5x Capital One miles on all eligible purchases. It is the no-fee counterpart to the Spark Miles Card, sharing access to the same transfer partner network at a lower annual cost and lower base earn rate.

What the product is structurally

Structurally, the Spark Miles Select is a Visa Business credit card on a revolving credit line. Miles earned belong to Capital One’s miles program, which supports transfers to airline and hotel loyalty programs at ratios that vary by partner.

In addition to the 1.5x base rate, the card earns 5x miles on hotels and rental cars booked through Capital One Travel. Employee cards are available at no additional cost.

The card includes a credit toward Global Entry or TSA PreCheck fees, up to $100 every four years — the same benefit offered on the fee-bearing Spark Miles Card.

How it works in practice

Every eligible purchase earns 1.5x miles. The 5x rate on Capital One Travel hotel and car bookings activates only when reservations are made through Capital One’s travel portal.

Miles can be redeemed at a fixed rate of 1 cent per mile against travel charges, or transferred to airline and hotel partners for potentially higher-value use. Transfer partners include Air Canada Aeroplan, Turkish Airlines Miles&Smiles, Avianca LifeMiles, Wyndham Rewards, Accor Live Limitless, and others.

The Global Entry ($100) or TSA PreCheck (lower fee) credit is applied when the application fee is charged to the Spark Miles Select Card.

Fees and pricing mechanics

There is no annual fee. No foreign transaction fees apply.

The welcome offer, as of early 2026, is 20,000 miles after spending $3,000 in the first three months. At 1 cent per mile in fixed travel redemptions, this bonus is equivalent to $200 in travel. Transfer redemptions can potentially exceed this value depending on the program selected.

Limits, eligibility, and availability

Eligibility mirrors the Spark Cash Select: a U.S. business entity with a personal credit evaluation. No minimum revenue is publicly disclosed.

Credit limits are assigned at approval. Employee cards are available free and contribute miles to the primary account.

Tradeoffs, risks, or limitations

The 1.5x earn rate is lower than the 2x available on the fee-bearing Spark Miles Card. Over time, at the same spending level, the Spark Miles Card outperforms the Select version by enough to recover its $95 annual fee if annual spending exceeds approximately $3,800 in non-bonus category purchases.

Miles require active management to achieve high-value redemptions. Businesses that do not track transfer partner availability and award charts will likely redeem at the fixed 1-cent rate, making the effective value identical to a 1.5% cash back card.

The 5x Capital One Travel rate is only accessible through the portal, creating the same constraints as the fee-bearing Spark Miles Card for businesses with preferred booking workflows.
