The U.S. Bank Business Altitude Power World Elite Mastercard® is a business credit card that earns 2.5x points on eligible purchases of $5,000 or more and 2x points on all other eligible purchases. It carries a $195 annual fee and targets businesses with high-value single transactions.
What the product is structurally
The Business Altitude Power is a World Elite Mastercard issued by U.S. Bank on a revolving credit line. It earns U.S. Bank Altitude Rewards points, redeemable through the Altitude Rewards Center.
The card’s defining feature is its tiered earn structure based on transaction size rather than merchant category. Purchases of $5,000 or more in a single transaction earn 2.5x points; all other eligible purchases earn 2x. There is no cap on either earn rate.
The card provides a TSA PreCheck or Global Entry credit — up to $100 per year when the application fee is charged to the card. This benefit renews annually, unlike the standard every-four-years structure on most other cards.
How it works in practice
Point accumulation is based on individual transaction amounts rather than categories. A $6,000 equipment purchase earns 2.5x per point; a $4,500 purchase earns 2x. Businesses that routinely make large transactions — such as vendor payments, equipment purchases, or supply orders — benefit disproportionately from the 2.5x tier.
Points redeem at 1.5 cents per point for travel booked through the Altitude Rewards Center, and at 1 cent per point for cash back or statement credits. There are no airline or hotel transfer partners.
A 50,000-point welcome bonus is available after meeting a spending threshold in the first 180 days.
Fees and pricing mechanics
The annual fee is $195. No foreign transaction fees apply.
The variable APR applies to unpaid balances. The TSA PreCheck/Global Entry credit can be used for any eligible applicant paying the fee with the card — the $100 annual allowance renews each account year, not every four years.
Limits, eligibility, and availability
Eligibility requires a U.S. business with personal guaranty. U.S. Bank evaluates both the business and personal credit profiles.
The card is available nationally without an existing U.S. Bank relationship requirement.
Tradeoffs, risks, or limitations
The 2.5x rate on transactions of $5,000+ is most valuable for businesses with irregular high-value purchases. Businesses with consistently small transaction sizes — retail, dining, or services businesses billing in hundreds rather than thousands — will earn 2x on nearly all spending, making the $195 fee harder to justify versus competing 2% flat-rate cards at lower costs.
U.S. Bank Altitude Rewards are not transferable to airline or hotel programs. The points ceiling is effectively 1.5 cents per point through the travel portal — below the potential value available through Chase Ultimate Rewards or Amex Membership Rewards transfers.
The annual Global Entry/TSA PreCheck credit renewing each year (versus every four years) is a notable differentiator, providing recurring value for businesses with multiple employees who need trusted traveler status.
