The American Express Hilton Honors Business Card earns Hilton Honors points on all eligible purchases, led by 12x at Hilton properties, and includes complimentary Hilton Gold status with a $195 annual fee. A Free Weekend Night Award is issued each year after the card anniversary.
What the product is structurally
The Hilton Honors Business Card is a revolving credit card enrolled in the Hilton Honors loyalty program. Points are not transferable to non-Hilton programs through American Express. The card’s value is tightly bound to Hilton redemptions — free nights, room upgrades, and on-property purchases.
Hilton Gold status provides complimentary continental or full breakfast at eligible properties, fifth-night free on standard award bookings, space-available upgrades, and an 80% points bonus atop the base earning tier.
The Free Weekend Night Award is valid for a standard room at most Hilton properties and must be used by the stated expiry date.
How it works in practice
Earn rates:
- 12x at Hilton hotels and resorts
- 5x on eligible flights booked directly with airlines and car rentals booked directly
- 4x at U.S. restaurants
- 4x on U.S. gas stations
- 4x on wireless telephone services from U.S. providers
- 4x on U.S. purchases for shipping
- 3x on all other eligible purchases
High-spend bonuses may apply at elevated spending levels per calendar year. The Free Weekend Night Award activates after the cardmember anniversary each year the account remains open and in good standing.
Employee cards are available at no additional cost. Their eligible spending counts toward the primary account’s points balance.
Fees and pricing mechanics
The annual fee is $195. No foreign transaction fees apply.
Hilton Honors points hold a variable redemption value depending on the property and reward night category. Standard redemptions typically fall between 0.5 and 0.7 cents per point. Premium properties and peak dates can yield lower CPP relative to aspirational cash rates.
The welcome offer for new cardholders is a defined points bonus after meeting a spend threshold in the first months of account opening.
Limits, eligibility, and availability
Eligibility requires a U.S. business entity and personal credit evaluation by American Express with personal guaranty. U.S. terms and rates apply; the product is available only in the United States.
Hilton Gold status through the card is a card-linked benefit — it does not convert to permanently earned status. Status coverage ends if the account is closed.
Tradeoffs, risks, or limitations
Hilton Honors points are not transferable to airline programs. The card’s value is concentrated in Hilton stays. Businesses whose travel spending spans multiple hotel brands will recapture less value than frequent Hilton guests.
Hilton point values are lower than comparable Hyatt, Marriott, or airline miles — requiring larger point balances for aspirational redemptions. At 0.5–0.7 cents per point, the 12x Hilton earn rate translates to roughly 6–8% effective return on Hilton hotel spending.
Compared to the Hilton Honors Aspire Card (personal, $550 AF), the business version lacks the Hilton Diamond status and unlimited free night certificates that the Aspire tier provides.
