Choosing a travel card structure
Transferable points vs. co-brand: Transferable point cards (Amex MR, Chase UR, Capital One miles) provide flexibility across multiple carriers and hotels. Co-brand cards maximize earning and benefits within one loyalty program but lock redemptions to that network.
No lounge access below $95 fee: Priority Pass or proprietary lounge access generally requires a card in the $95–$395+ range. For businesses where lounge access is not a priority, the Ink Business Preferred ($95) or Spark Miles ($95) provide the strongest points-per-dollar structure without lounge cost.
Network concentration: Businesses whose principals fly primarily on one airline may find a co-brand card economically denser for that airline’s benefits (free bags, status accelerators, companion certificates) than a general transferable points card.
